The front screen displays the steps that the user needs to undertake to aid the recovery.The application also displays a log of all recovery activities that have been undertaken. The log displays details such as the folders that have been recovered, the time and date of recovery among others.

Recovery Process

The software is surprisingly easy to use and you can undertake the following process to restore EDB files that are corrupted:

A On the dashboard click on the 'Select EDB File' icon. You may also select the EDB file option from the file menu. When the application is launched, a dialog box appears which allows the user to select the required files both automatically or through manual input. Additional features are provided through the following buttons

1 Open the EDB File button: this allows you to select the corrupted EDB file from its appropriate location.

2 Find the EDB File button: this assists in searching for the EDB file if you not aware of the location of the file. The 'Start' and 'Stop' buttons help to begin or stop the search respectively. Once the Search is complete, the tool displays the results at the bottom of the dialog box along with 'Clear List', 'Cancel' and 'OK' features.

3 Change Destination: The tool provides you with the option to change the destination of the recovered mailboxes if you do not want to restore it into the original folder

4 Select Server type: the feature allows you to specify the Exchange Server version once the database has been selected. This is the version in which the EDB file is created. Each of the Exchange server versions are supplied with their appropriate radio check buttons.

5 Start: the button runs the EDB recovery activities upon the database selection. Once the Start button is activated, a status bar at the bottom of the screen indicates how much the recovery process has completed.

6 Once the file is selected, use the 'Scan' option to view the recoverable items of the various user mailboxes in the EDB file.

7 Finally, after the scanning is completed, you can click the 'View All Mailboxes' option. This displays a dialog box which provides all the extracted mailboxes. You have the option to 'Save' all or certain selected mailboxes as PST files at any of the specified locations provided by you.

How To Stop A Recovery Process

You may also stop the recovery process by either clicking the 'Stop' icon from the dashboard or by clicking the 'Stop Current Process' option from the File menu. The Help menu is displayed as '?' icon and can be used to view the user guide. The Help feature is also available through the Menu bar and in addition to the user guide also provides links for product purchase details, product updates and product information.

In addition to the dashboard, the tool also provides a menu bar function to perform similar functions. For e.g. the File menu provides options such as 'Select EDB File', 'View all mailboxes', 'Stop' and 'Exit' functions. The 'Exit' function is used to close the current running application session.

Similarly, the 'Tools' menu provides the 'Save Log' and 'clear Log' features which help to save and clear log details respectively. Stellar Repair for Exchange provides activation option either through the Internet or manually. This is achieved through the 'Activate Online' and the 'Manual Activation' features within the main 'Activate' menu

It is suggested that for best results with Stellar Repair for Exchange Tool the .edb and .stm files are put in the same folder. One needs to ensure that MS Outlook is correctly installed.
